Community Guidelines
CaseLink helps people preserve public records, organize case information, and discover possible connections without replacing official investigation or human review.
Effective: July 25, 2026
1. Treat every record like it involves real people
Missing-person, unidentified-person, public safety, and court-related information can affect families, victims, witnesses, private individuals, agencies, and communities. Use CaseLink with care.
2. Research leads are not proof
Matches, correlations, graphs, timelines, map clusters, source mentions, news mentions, and search results are research signals only. Do not present them as official identifications, accusations, legal findings, or confirmed outcomes.
3. Use sources and preserve context
When adding information, include the best available source: agency page, case number, public database, news article, PDF, archive, court record, family statement, or submission context. Do not strip dates, publishers, URLs, or uncertainty from the record.
4. No harassment, doxxing, or public targeting
Do not use CaseLink to expose private people, harass families, threaten users, shame witnesses, publish unsupported accusations, or share private addresses, private contact details, private messages, or sensitive personal data without a lawful and necessary reason.
5. Respect official channels
CaseLink does not replace law enforcement, emergency services, courts, medical examiners, coroners, NamUs, NCMEC, sheriff offices, police departments, or official tip lines. Urgent or actionable information should go directly to the proper authority.
6. Handle family and public submissions carefully
Submissions may include user identity, account details, IP/user-agent records, source links, attachments, and sensitive notes. Review them for safety, relevance, duplication, and source quality before public display.
7. Use news as context, not sensationalism
News articles can support search, source review, timelines, locations, and entity context. Do not turn tragedy into entertainment, inflate weak signals, or use news mentions as proof without review.
8. Protect restricted areas
Admin tools, tickets, leads, review queues, contact records, user data, imports, source intelligence, correlations, and internal workflows must remain limited to authorized users.
9. Correct errors quickly
If a record is wrong, outdated, duplicated, unsafe, or unsupported, submit or apply a correction. Rejected leads and rejected matches may be retained to prevent repeated review of the same error.
10. The core rule
Use CaseLink to make scattered public information easier to find, preserve, compare, and review while reducing harm to the people behind the records.
